Subject: When our house becomes an asrama Nectar for today

------------------------------------------------------------

And in the same way the home of the householders should be of the same nature.

Krishna should be present and recognized as the proprietor and the centre of all our activities. Spiritual culture - sadhana, seva, the nine processes of devotional service should be taking place always in the household. We should not have a superficial stereotyped idea of what Krishna consciousness is. Krishna consciousness is the life in which we are aspiring at greater depths to the meaning of our existence in Krishna`s servcie. With the husband, the wife, the children, they are regularly serving sadhus, inviting them to their homes, giving charity of prasad, and other forms of Krishna`s mercy to be unfortunate, worshiping the Deities, offering food to the Deities, having nice sadhana, having nice discussions to enliven one another. This is Grhastha asrama.

Subject: When our house becomes an asrama Nectar for today

------------------------------------------------------------

Culture is not something that is created by our own mind or own imagination. Spiritual culture means it is according to the traditions, which are tested, proven by the great acharyas, since time immemorial. And such spiritual culture is always foremost. Not sometimes. Not only on Sundays. Not only during the brahma muhurta hours. Always prominent. This is asrama and every civilized human being is meant to live in an asrama. In fact according to the varnasrama dharma system, established by Krishna himself- catur-varnyam maya sristam - whether one is a brahmachari, grhastha, vanaprastha or sannyasi, one must always live within an asrama. In fact each of these particcular stages of life is called an asrama. Brahmachari asrama. Grhastha asrama. Vanaprastha asrama.

Sannyas asrama. It is not that brahmacharis live in asramas and grhasthas live at home, and that gives the grhasthas the opportunity to do what they like, when they like - because after all they are grhasthas and therefore they cannot live in an asrama This mentality is not grhastha, this is called grhamedhi. Grhamedhi is not an asrama. Grhamedhi means to live at home without spiritual culture always foremost. That is called grhamedhi. Even if a person is in the mode of goodness, being very charitable, very nice to others, giving children good education; unless spiritual culture is always foremost, they are grhamedhi. They are living in an illusion. They are living a life where envy is prominent because it is not connected to the proper understanding of Krishna and Krishna bhakti.. When our house becomes an asrama, when our house is a place where spiritual culture is always foremost then we can call ourselves grhastha
