there is a big controversy about salt raging in various parts of the
world. A lot of people are living now without salt since they say that salt
causes the blood pressure to rise too high.
Most devotees suffer from extremely low blood pressure and therefore this
arguement is not the most important for us.
But, I learned something from the nature doctor of Satsvarupa Maharaj in the
USA, Mr. Sharma. He is a nice pious man, but nature cure in general is too
vague for me, but others like it. Anyway, he told me some valuable advice
which is simple yet very important.
He said that the thirst that comes, and requires to be driven away with
liters of water each day, comes because one eats food which was COOKED with
salt. This means that the salt is put into the preparation at some point
during the cooking process and it is cooked. When salt is thus cooked it
becomes poisonous to a certain extent (as does rice if it is once cooked and
cooled and then reheated) and it makes the body very dry causing one to drink
a lot without relief.
The solution to this is simple. One should simply wait until the cooking
process is completed, then he should add the salt while everything is still
very hot, then slightly mix, the salt should melt, and be merged with the
preparation. This means that the preparation is not cooked anymore after the
salt merges.
I have ordered any cook I can get my hands on to do things like this. As for
me, I cannot stand food not cooked in this manner. I can immediately tell
when it is not done this way since it creates a very bad effect in the body.
Mr.Sharma says that one doesn`t even require extra water when it is cooked in
this way since the natural water within the food (if it is properly cooked as
well, not too little and not too much so that it becomes a tasteless,
valueless mush) is sufficient for liquid needs. I have found this to be
almost true. I anyway always drink water 1 1/3 hours after eating since this
is a rule in Ayurveda to lubricate the insides. But more is not required.

Just a little advice I got and which I found work very well:
If the stomach is acidic, causing burning feelings, one should just take some
coriander. Then it goes away immediately, but it also stays away.

If you put some text in this conference it should be somewhat detailed.
After all, the word `some` is relative. Someone may think that some
coriander means a cupful and someone else may think a teaspoon full.
Is it the leafy kind, or the seed form? Dry, roasted, plain, cooked, mashed,
mixed, salty? Eh? Some details here sir!

One can start with one or two teaspoons, then more if required.
I tried dry leaves as well as seeds, and both worked. On just takes it as it
is.

Subject: please pass the salt
------------------------------------------------------------
Generally the people who have success with "salt free"
diets are people who have eaten meat for a long time.
Meat actually contains itself much salt which is absorbed
into the body and contribute to high blood pressure.
As one then goes into a salt free diet, the body uses what
has been stored and for time time things "get better" - for
some time; according to AYurveda, too LITTLE salt in the body
results in Vata disturbances like stiffness, backache, headache
constipation or lack of digestive fire. Definitely "salt-free"
is not to be considered for life long plan.
This is interesting with the salt at the end of the sabji -
Madanalasa says this is the technique which she saw in different
providences of India - never got an explanation, simply
parampara.
What about rice? I know some Bengalis who don`t put any salt in
their rice.

Subject: Lecithin (again) and devotee health
------------------------------------------------------------
Some of you may remember I put a text in about Lecithin some weeks back.
Maybe you even tried to review that text but couldn`t find it again? The
truth of the matter is that I put that text in during a wave of enthusiasm
brought about by the first two days effects of (I thought) Lecithin taking.
Well,
