at the very beginning of the

feast - this happens very often on fast days. This increases

VATA DOSHA in the bady like anything and then there is pain. One

should be very careful drinking cold things after fasting.

REMEDY: HOT TEA - Kamille is the best.

(This used to happen periodically to one famous kirtana leader in

CH)

Subject: Dysentary`s last stand

------------------------------------------------------------

If you have a really terrible case of dysentary, and no normal yoghurt cure

works, then a sure fire way to end the mess is to take...

Hot puris with salt with black tea.

Believe it or not it really works wonders.

Yes that is black tea, the stuff we don`t drink.

Hot puris with salt cure comes from Prabhupada. The black tea comes from

local wisdom. Together the combo is a knock out punch to the dysentary.

Subject: Liver problem

------------------------------------------------------------

There are two kinds of liver problems

1. overactive - as in Jaundice

2. underactive - inability to digest fats, for example

The ayurvedic pulse diagnosis is a simple, sure fire way to

exactly determine which organs are over-, or underactive; but

there are other ways to tell.

If the liver is overactive, there is usually a bitter taste in

the mouth; or very often the eyes are continuously red.

There may also be tendency toward fevers and various "red"

diseases like skin eruptions or rash.

If the liver is underactive, then digestion will be slow and

other symptoms like tiredness, very little perspiration and

little thirst may be present.

For overactive liver heavy foods are recommended.

For underactive liver spicy and sauer foods are recommended.

By the way, does anybody know if Mukesh`s medicine is OK for Ekadasi? Maybe

it is different for different devotees, but to me it all looks about the

same...

As a general rule I usually skip medicine on ekadasi.

Of course this is fanatacism since for medical purposes you can break all

kinds of rules without sins, but fanatics are fanatics.

There is no way to know without asking the maker, isn`t it?

One can never know for sure. Some people think that fish oil is vegetarian.

So, I never take any medicine - not even vitamins - on Ekadasi either.

Subject: Kamlesh

------------------------------------------------------------

He was here in CH last FAll. I have very little faith in him.

He gave his seminar and tried to sell his thing. His knowledge of

Ayurveda seems actually incomplete. One thing he told the

devotees was that one could take MANGO with ANY meal; but

everyone knows that mango PUTS OUT the fire. Devotees who

followed his advice of course had diarrhea. He also told one

devotee that he was perfectly healthy (but this devotee had just

had a severe attack of JAUNDICE. He also INSISTED that all

devotees MUST take rice, dahl and capatis. But I have at least

one devotee here who has so much fire in his stomach that if he

takes dahl, he gets sick. The principles of Ayurveda are really

quite simple; I cannot figure out why these so-called experts

have so much trouble with the devotees - other than of course

that they are only interested in MONEY. Also this Mukhesh: in CH

we have had generally bad experience with his medicine. He gave

Rohini suta medicine which makes the body HOT, DRY and LIGHT!!!

I also now of two devotees who received identicle medicine . They

did have the same symptoms; but the one had really too much fire

and the other`s kidney are simply kaput - it is not the same

thing. I think that the devotees should themselves get into these

things - some people are inclined
